Project 2 - TECTONICS - Design Principles, Anthropometric & Ergonomic Exploration
The objectives of this project are to create an awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics and relating it to form and space and introducing basic tectonics with timber and the supporting material, design principles and architectural terminologies on application to spatial and form configuration.
I explored the tectonical expressions of timber and the dimensions of our body, therefore we are required to produce a Tectonic scaled model that encompasses form, structure and spatial quality. The Tectonic size was approximately 5.0 m3. Timber was the main material with support from other materials ( I chose steel ). The use and manipulation of the materials fulfilled the need of a banal activity i.e. standing for me.

FINAL MODEL
Narrative :
There are 3 places for me to stand.
As I walk pass the space, there is a solid which made me want to explore more. The structure consists of a metal plate with texture covering the whole solid. As I stand underneath, I could see partial lighting. That made me look up to experience the sky.
As I enter the space, timber marked the spots where I am supposed to stand. Therefore, I will take off my shoes and stand on it because it automatically felt important as the steps are slightly higher than the steel floor. It is not comfortable to stand on steel with barefoot too.
When I reach the centre, i stand at the open but still bounded space and there is additional postural support for me to lean on while looking outside the space.
